I just received an email from USCIS saying that my I-140 has been denied. I touched base with the attorney & she has not yet received any documentation from USCIS. This has been the 1st change in my status since Aug 07. My case is pending at TSC.
Does anyone know if this is a fairly common occurance for USCIS to deny I-140 without an RFE? Any advise on what to do next?

I have soft LUDs since last 4 consecutive dates i.e, 05/18, 05/19, 05/20, 05/21.

Thats awesome.Great job alterego.I wish there are more members from SW Michigan.Since most of the new interest group have not mentioned their phone number,i am also not sure where they are from.

I recently discussed this issue with a couple of people in southwest Michigan, in jobs and contract positions with Whirlpool corporation. I am not sure if that is where the interest is coming from, but it is quite possible. They are new blood and did not even know this organization existed and that it was instrumental in last years VB reversal. I offered to meet with a larger group of them and give a talk but asked one specific senior employee there to network and find out the potential interest of potential members. I shared with him the link to this website. I was told there are up to 50 members in various stages. Not sure how many would be interested, but....there is a pool we can tap into in one location.
There are a number of foreign nationals of many countries that work here too who are in the EB queue. Hopefully this can give a new impetus.

Democrats return back to a lame-duck Congressional session in which they have a majority in both chambers. This is the moment to make the effort to pass the DREAM Act and open up the path for hundreds of thousands of young people to enter the university or serve in the Armed Forces.
Major legislation on the agenda between now and the end of the year includes making permanent the Bush-era tax cuts, passing the fiscal year 2011 spending bill or at least passing a stopgap measure to continue to fund the government, extending unemployment benefits, and addressing cuts in Medicare payments to doctors.
There are many important issues on the floor and the position that will be taken by the Republicans is still unclear given they will have control of the House of Representatives in two months.
Despite this, we believe the DREAM Act must be added to the mix. In these past two years of Democratic control, the concerted push for comprehensive immigration reform never materialized. At a minimum, during these last weeks of legislative control, they should seek passage of legislation that would allow undocumented high school graduates � who have grown up in the U.S. � to continue their studies or to join the military.
Similar efforts a few months back failed because critics unjustly denounced the bill as an "amnesty," as if these young people were responsible for having been brought to the U.S. by their parents. Other critics charged that the bill would prove to be a magnet for immigrant parents to bring young children here. Such criticism ignores the real reasons for immigration.
This legislative session is filled with dozens of legislators who have either lost their reelection or are planning to retire. They have nothing to lose by doing the right thing and voting for a bill that will help the economy in the short and long term by preparing our country�s future labor force. And, at the same time, they will be strengthening the military.
Political savvy and determination will be needed to pass this legislation. Opportunities exist to attach it to other bills if it appears that it cannot be approved on its own. With so much at stake , the time to act is now!

Shustermann says that today ist the last day that all the employment- based-preference categories are current (exception unskilled workers). Ok, now he sasy : We recommand that Employers and their attorneys e-filing their I-140 today.
Please explain me if thats so important to file today the I-140 becouse just today the priority date are current.
I dont understand whats has the filing form I-140 to do with the priority Dates. Priority date is the PERM date??

yes, the I-140 is also for NIW cases, but remember that your priority date is not "fixed" unless you have an approved I-140 backing up that petition.
What Shusterman is saying is that file the I-140 today and get receipt notice (number) and then based on the priority dates being current only till today you will be able to file the I-485 before Aug 17th.

Normally at the POE they scan the visa page to get the info. I think just the page being damp wouldn't affect the machine reading. But if you are so concerned you can call the nearest consulate in your home country, and inquire about it.

My date will be current from September 1st. Is it okay to travel to India on a short trip while the date is current? If 485 gets approved while I am india, can I still come back on advance parole?
You are safe. Just make sure that your AP is valid when you re-enter.

What is interesting in this? This is not interesting, this is published guideline from USCIS. But the outcome is not guaranteed to get an EAD.

USCIS has recently published a new fact sheet of common questions and answers for members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The fact sheet is worth reading if you are in the Armed Forces because the answers to some of the questions are different (and usually more advantageous) to members and/or dependents of those in the Armed Forces. For instance, if you are a civilian, obtained your green card through a marriage to a U.S. Citizen and you have been married for less than two years, you must file Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=f858d59cb7a5d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCR D&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1 RCRD) to remove the conditional residence and obtain your permanent green card. You must file this form even if you intend on applying for citizenship a year later. (Persons who are married to U.S. citizens may apply for citizenship in three years.)
Members of the armed forces do not have to file Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence to remove conditional residence obtained through a marriage to a U.S. Citizen, if the foreign born spouse was inducted or enlisted in the military and is applying for naturalization based on qualifying military service.
