After july fiasco, uscis and dol are very very cautious, in opening up the gates and calling everyone current. (They dont want another 1-2 million applications being sent).
It is defintely not going to happen in the near future.....
So even finding a pattern may not help as its not going to be current for all for EB3 atleast.

I had an RFE last year and they asked me to submit photos. They claimed I had not sent photos, which is untrue. I had sent them, but they probably lost them.

That depends on what your needs are. New or used camera? Already have some lenses/accessories? How much of a system are you going to build (how many/type of lenses needed)? Do you have friends who also have a DSLR system, from which you might borrow stuff? Do you have a possibility/need for rentals close to where you live? ...

New Passport or Renewal depends on your current passport. If there is an "(F)" after the expiry date of your passport, then you will have to apply for a new one. Otherwise you can renew the existing one. Even if you get a new one, the consulate will return the old one - and you can carry both passports if your old one has a valid visa. I am not sure if renewal will result in a new passport copy or if they will just change the date in the existing passport. After coming to the US, I could only apply for a new one as I could not renew my old one (old one was applied for when I was below 18 yrs old). At that time, I carried both my old passport with F1 stamp and new passport untill I got H1 stamped in my new passport. The new passport I got back in 1997 was valid for 20 years (expires in 2017).

Is there are rule governing how far in advance( before the current EAD expires) we can apply for EAD renewal? Is it ok to apply 7 months in advance?
The usual thumb rule for USCIS is 6 months in advance for any renewal or extensions.

After QGA and IV and all of us sending so many faxes etc, they did not even mention about EB visa issue in the SJC.

Obviously the efforts of us, IV and QGA have not been sufficient. I am not
in the least balming anyone. I for one feel IV has done exemplary work.
But the critical question is do we need to do anything different ?
Core memebers of IV, ragz4u et al, do you think we need to take a harder look and see if we are on the right path ? Did something not work as expected ? I read in one of the core memebrs post that IV members are in DC talking to senators office. Did senators office play ignorant in the SJC after being sympathetic to us ? What baffles me atleast, is the total
apathy and seeming ignorance to our issue on the part of senators. After all
our efforts. What went wrong ?

In fact if you look at it, they are better off with us stuck in H1 and waiting for our EAD. This is not my assumption, but is based on an informal discussion with one of my dept. heads. We don't think we, the legal immigrants, can go out in a half a million strong rally. Can we? what options do we have now? I do remember how the favorable clauses were just trashed away, way back in jan'06.

Mine is pending in CSC since April 2008. My husband's extension was applied in July, and it came through in September. But mine is delayed like crazy. Processing date last month was June 16 or something. We have filed SR on Oct 28, but there hasnt been any updates until now.
Bottom line, USCIS=random!
Could you please share how you filed SR, my h1 extn is pending for 92 days.

As many people stated already, Parents do not qualify for H4 status. They can come here on Visitors (B2) visa but that way their stay here can not be more than 6 months & frequent such stays also raise a red flag.
So, unless one becomes Citizen - I can't think of an alternative to bring parents on a permanent basis. I wish there is a way too!!

My attornies (big firm...working for Fortune 500 company) says that dates could retrogress anytime i.e. on 15 July 07, dates could move back several months and the chances of that happening are very high. My advise is to have your spouse cut the vacation short and return asap...! You need to file ASAP.

My two cents are that you should attach your receipt notice for I-485 and approved I-140 along with your spouse's application right now instead of waiting for his/her receipt notice. BTW, this is based on an opinion of attorney I consulted.
I don't think that your spouse's I-140 has to do anything with interfiling. You application will be interlinked to your spouse's application based on I485. Also, since you are just interfiling, you both will remain primary on your respective applications with no derivatives. You won't become a derivative just by interfiling. Thats the benefit of filing separately so that who so ever has the PD current first, the spouse benefits from it even though his/her PD is not current.
I don't understand why your attorney is recommending to interfile when you have an option to let USCIS know right away where to put your spouse' I-485 file. I recommend you to take a second opinion if you have a doubt.

It could be a soft touch (system) or someone just looked at your 140 - Keep an eye out.
I understood it to be a part of the 485 processing that they link your 140 to your 485 and this process date stamps the 140 record.
